The Winter Wonderland Indoor Show
This show held in the Afridome in Parys was organised by Bev Williamson and as usual it turned out to be a most enjoyable, well run event and the arena beautifully decorated. We won the Junior Championship with Gwyddls Showtime whilst Dunkid Summer Sensation was placed second in the Senior Mare Class.
Tanna stood Champion Stallion as well as Supreme Champion Sec.A.
LLandilo Harvard was placed second in the Senior Stallion Class. Tanna was then placed Reserve Supreme Purebred on Show amongst great competition.

The finals held under lights was a great innovation.


National Championships Bloemfontein
Gwyddls did very well at the Welsh Championships held in April. We won the under twelve months filly class with Gwyddls Tatyanna, the colts under four and also the Junior Championship with Gwyddls Showtime. Dunkid Summer Sensation was Champion Mare under six years and LLandilo Harvard was placed first in the Stallions under ten 
years class.

All four group classes namely - Mare and Foal, Stallion Mare and Foal, Stallion and two Mares as well as Progeny of one Stallion all went the way of Gwyddls

But the best was yet to come and our Senior Stallion Caernafon Tabutanna Dunkid won the Stallion over ten years, S.A. Senior Stallion Championship as well as S.A. Supreme Champion Sec A. He then went on to stand Supreme Champion Purebred on Show.

The International Judge  for this show was Mrs Jo Lutey from Cornwell, U.K.


Autumn Gold Cup
Eaton Farm was the venue on 21st of March the judge being Lynn King. Our young two year old colt Gwyddls Showtime won the under 4 year old class with mares Silverstone Lola being placed 2nd and Summer Sensation  3rd in the Senior Mares class.
Llandilo Harvard was the Senior Stallion Champion and then stood Supreme Champion Sec.A male.
                                   

Horse of the Year
Gwyddls  had a good start to the year. Our two year old colt Showtime won the under 4 years class and then stood Junior Champion.
Summer Sensation was placed 2nd in the Senior Mare class. Tanna was Champion Stallion, Senior Welsh Champion and also Supreme Champion Sec.A 
In the General Breed section Llandilo Harvard was Champion Stallion under 1,50
                                           

                             2009 
 
2009 was a magical year for Gwyddls Stud. The ponies did us proud amongs very classy competition. We started off by placing 1st with our senior stallion "Tanna" at Horse Of The Year held in February. He also stood Senior Champion and Supreme Champion Sec.A.  His daughter Dunkid Summer Sensation won the Junior Championship and surprised us by placing Reserve Supreme Champion Sec.A. Our mare Pajayhu Wandrie won the Senior Mare Championship competing against six other execeptional mares.  International judge, Mr. Stephen Howard,was very complimentary of both Tanna and Summer Sensation.
Once again we wish to place on  record our sincere thanks and appreciation to our two lovely young ladies Michelle and Nichole du Toit who do the showing for us. 


 Next was the Autumn Gold Cup where Tanna won the Stallion title and stood Supreme Champion Sec.A.
He was placed Reserve Supreme Champion Breed Horse in the Top 5, to the lovely Count Pushkin (Sec. B), belonging to Bea Giddy, who was crowned as Show Breed Champion.
 Summer Sensation won the Junior Championship and Pajayhu Wandrie was Reserve Supreme Champion. The international judges for the show were Nigel Fuller and Phillip Cooper both from the U.K.

At the National Championships held in Bloemfontein,
Tanna won the Stallion Championship (over 10 years) and went on to stand S.A. Senior Champion. The accolade was when he was crowned S.A. Supreme Champion Sec. A.
The overseas judge Mr. Cemaes Evans (Cathedine Stud.) was very complimentary about his conformation.

The Northern Province Regional Championships was staged at Mapleridge where Pajayhu Wandrie won the Senior Mare Title, and Summer Sensation won the Junior Championship. Tanna again stood Supreme Champion Sec. A as well as Regional Champion 2009. He then went on to become Supreme Purebred Champion. International judge for the show was Mrs. Tweetie Nimmo. 
             

The F.S. and N.C. Championships were held in Stilfontein, Tanna stood Champion Purebred on Show and went on to win the Supreme Breed Championship in a very strong field judged by three local judges, Sydney Kidson, Sue Dittman and Heleen Botha.

At the 2009 Windermere Summer Classic we were pleasantly surprised when new edition to the stud  - Silverstone Lola (daughter of Tanna) was placed Senior Mare Champion  by judge Sue Dittman.
 
Last Show for the year was the Summer Showing Festival - and again our ponies did us proud. Dunkid Summer Sensation placed as Reserve Junior Champion and Pajayhu Wandrie won the Senior Mare  title.
Our stud stallion Tanna finished his year in great style, standing Senior Champion Sec.A  as  well as Supreme Champion Sec.A  The three overseas judges were unanamous  in their decision in placing Tanna as Summer Showing Festival  Supreme Champion Breed Horse.  Judge Joanna Mc Innes (UK) was very enchanted with Tanna and said she was of the opinion that he could hold his own in any company.

         Tanna qualiified for a diamond performance award and Legion of merit awards for 2009.
